Mayor Emanuel: 'Don't worry about how I dress at a Blackhawk game'

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The mayor was at the Chicago Blackhawks game Sunday night at the United Center, but not in his usual wardrobe.

Mayor Emanuel was seen on TV sitting behind the glass wearing casual clothing. His outfit consisted of a Blackhawks’ t-shirt under a chambray shirt, with jeans.

On Wednesday, Mayor Emanuel was asked about his attire at the game. He responded that he took his 15-year-old daughter to the game at her request, according to a report by DNAinfo Chicago.

"If your daughter at 15 still wants to be seen with you, don't worry about how I'm dressing," Mayor Emanuel said. "If she doesn't think that wearing a blue-jean denim shirt's a problem for her, relax, we've got other things to worry about.”

The mayor then added on to the good point he made.

"That she wants to be with her dad, and not embarrassed, trust me, you've got other things you can worry about," he added. "Don't worry about me and how I dress at a Blackhawk game because I'm happy to be with my daughter."

Mayor Emanuel’s statement received cheering applause from a crowd in Bronzeville.
