Meet McDonald's New Mascot "Happy." Or Is That Creepy?

Posted: Updated:
McDonald's has introduced a new bug-eyed mascot that it calls its "ambassador." This new ambassador's name? Happy. And, the new mascot apparently has some people a little creeped out.

McDonald's Announces Happy

The new character is an addition to the launch of the healthier "Happy Meal" which will include Go-Gurt snacks. Julie Wenger, senior director of U.S. Marketing, "At McDonald's, we're always looking to bring fun and happiness to families and listening to our customers' asks to have more variety and wholesome options for kids to enjoy in their happy meals." To get an idea where this is going, you can check out this animated video created for a campaign outside the U.S.

What do you think? Are you happy like a room without a roof, or do you find the new ambassador a little creepy? Here are a couple other tweets from people who found Happy to be a bit disturbing.
