LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Gwinnett County authorities are searching for the gunman responsible for shooting a pit bull in the neck, leaving the animal for dead.

"A $500 reward has been offered by Society of Humane Friends of Lawrenceville partners with the Gwinnett County Sheriff's department Operation Second Chance Jail Dog program for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who shot a very nice and Friendly pit bull female in the neck!

Cruelty and abuse Officer of Gwinnett County Animal Control and Welfare says "the dog is lucky to be alive!!"

A call came into Animal Control as an injured stray found in the area of Cedars Road, E. Rockouse Road, Bishops Lane and Swamp Cabbage Dr in Lawrenceville.

Anyone with information about this injured dog should contact Officer Brooks at Gwinnett Animal Control at 770-339-3200"
