5 injured after car collides with police SUV

Posted: Updated:
MESA, Ariz. - Five people were injured after a sedan collided with a Mesa police SUV near Dobson and Main on Friday morning.

We're told the crash happened around 8 a.m. as both vehicles were turning left.

Somehow, a sedan crashed in the SUV, causing it to tip over.

A total of five people have injuries, but firefighters say they are all minor, including the officer's.

Authorities say a witness injured his hand while trying to help get the officer out of his patrol car.

"He was trapped in there and the gasoline was pouring and I'm just thanking God that the car didn't catch fire 'cause if it would, it would have been bad, so I just kept kicking the window until it came open," said Raymond Curley.

Traffic was closed off while police investigated the crash scene.
