Cold case crime experts have traveled hundreds of miles from Florida to help in the unsolved murder of a Putnam County couple.
In early May, Russell Dermond, 88, was found beheaded and his wife's beaten body was dumped in Lake Oconee not far from their million-dollar home. Investigators say Shirley Dermond died of blunt force trauma.
The Putnam County Sheriff came to Atlanta Friday in search of older and more detailed financial records.
Sheriff Howard Sills recently tapped veteran cold case detectives from Jacksonville, Florida's Sheriff's Office. They examined the Dermond home and evidence Putnam detectives have gathered in the three months since the crime.
Sheriff Sills is still hoping someone will just do the right thing and tell detectives what they know about the crime, but he says a $55,000 reward for information is still being offered.
