Woman claims booted for religious headwear

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

A DeKalb County woman claims she was kicked out of cosmetology school for something she refused to remove.

Dalisha Barnett claims she was terminated from Pro Way Hair School in Stone Mountain for refusing to remove a religious Hijab.

The DeKalb Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) held a press conference Wednesday after Barnett was terminated for wearing a traditional Muslim veil.

The SCLC says her constitutional rights have been violated and are fighting on Barnett’s behalf.

The SCLC protest was held at Pro Way Hair School located on Memorial Drive.

FOX 5's Portia Bruner reached out to school officials, but didn't get a response.
