You can eat some of America's best burgers in New York

Americans love their burgers, and New York seems to know how to make them. Three of the top 10 best burgers in America and 15 of the 101 best are in New York, according to The Daily Meal.

The Daily Meal compiled a list of 200 burgers based on suggestions, best-of lists, and online reviews. Then 50 writers, journalists, bloggers, and culinary authorities took a survey and voted for their favorites among the burgers they have eaten.

In New York, the Luger Burger from Peter Luger ranked No. 2, Minetta Tavern's Black Label Burger came in third, and Bash Style from Burger and Barrel earned spot No. 8. Also in the top 10 is The Original Burger from Louis Lunch in New Haven, Connecticut, which ranks ninth.

The list excludes burgers from chain restaurants that have expanded beyond their hometowns with many locations.
