SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Firefighters say no one was injured when a small airplane was forced to land at a Scottsdale airport with a faulty gear.

The Scottsdale Fire Department says a pilot aboard the single-engine Cessna observed a light come on Friday morning that indicated trouble with the landing gear.

Fire spokesman Jay Ducote says the plane was able to make a successful "belly landing" despite the gear only being partially extended.

Ducote says only one other passenger was on the aircraft.

The plane is being removed from the runway by crane.

Airport spokeswoman Sarah Ferrara says the runway will remain closed while crews are on the scene.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
