CLEARWATER BEACH (FOX 13) -

One man is dead and another was hospitalized after getting caught in choppy waters off Clearwater Beach late Friday afternoon, authorities said.

It happened near the 500 block of Mandalay Avenue.

Police identified the drowning victim as 20-year-old Ryan Terry. They say he was on vacation from Georgia.

Another man, 41-year-old Donald Larry Duncan, was pulled from the water and taken to the hospital.

A Clearwater Police officer helped rescue the men from the water; a cardiologist who happened to be at the beach tried to save Terry.

We’ll have more on this developing story at 10 & 11.
