State police troopers beginning patrols in Inkster

Posted: Updated:
INKSTER, Mich. (AP) -- Uniformed Michigan State Police troopers are beginning patrols in Inkster.
According to a news release sent Thursday, troopers from the Metro Post will use real-time data to direct their patrols to "hotspots" of criminal activity within the Detroit suburb.
The state police say the patrols are starting this week and represent a continued presence for the agency in Inkster. State police detectives have been investigating all fatal and non-fatal shootings in Inkster.
The city has asked for state police assistance due to a rise in criminal activity and a drop in patrol officers due to budget issues.
