2 found dead in Arizona plane crash identified

Posted: Updated:

PAGE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say two bodies recovered from the wreckage of a small plane in northeastern Arizona are South Carolina residents who were reported missing.

The Coconino County Medical Examiner's Office said Wednesday that the remains were positively identified as 47-year-old Charles Trotter of Liberty and 15-year-old Dakota Jacks of Pickens.

County sheriff's officials say the teen was a friend of Trotter's family.

Authorities say the plane left Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday morning and landed in Page. It took off from the Page airport Friday afternoon, bound for South Carolina, and was reported missing Saturday.

The wreckage was found Sunday inside a remote canyon on the Navajo Indian Reservation, about 35 miles east of Page.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating what caused the plane to crash.
