New questions arise about Rauner daughter admission

CHICAGO (AP) - New questions are being raised about the admission of a Republican governor candidate's daughter into an elite Chicago public school.

One of Bruce Rauner's six children was initially rejected in 2008 to Walter Payton College Prep. Rauner says she had top-notch grades, but didn't meet an attendance requirement because of illness. She later got in. The Rauner Family Foundation later gave $250,000 to a school initiative.

The donation led to claims of clout during the primary.

Now an outgoing Chicago Public Schools official says Rauner's daughter didn't have the qualifications.

CPS inspector general James Sullivan told the Chicago Sun-Times this week that she didn't have the right scores. He told Chicago's WTTW-TV in an interview Wednesday that her scores weren't high enough.

Rauner's campaign didn't immediately return messages.
