Teen runs from the cops, crashes into brick wall

Posted: Updated:
Police say an SUV barreled through a block wall in the west valley. Behind the wheel was a 17 year-old girl and inside two young boys were thrown from the vehicle.

This all started when Phoenix Police got a call of two kids who were left inside of a scorching hot vehicle with no air conditioner. Both of the boys are now in a valley hospital listed in critical condition.

Officers were first called to a shopping center near 51st Avenue & Indian School for a report of the kids in the hot car. Officers were talking with her and they believe she was not telling the truth.

An officer placed her in handcuffs, behind her back, when she maneuvered her hands in front of her and sped off.

Police went to the address for the teen and then heard about an accident a block away that turned out to be the girl.
Investigators have not released details but believe the teen lost control striking the wall.

Both of the boys were thrown from the vehicle and rushed to a hospital in critical condition. We're told the 5-year-old was released from the hospital; the 8-year-old is still in critical, but stable condition.

The woman was released from the hospital on Sunday night and detained on charges of aggravated assault, escape and obstructing a criminal investigation.
