PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A water main break near 7th Avenue and McDowell on Tuesday closed some lanes during rush hour and into Wednesday morning.

One northbound lane has reopened on 7th Avenue between I-10 and McDowell. The southbound lanes and McDowell Road are not impacted.

All northbound lanes were shut down after officials say a 20 inch water line that was built in the 1930's broke; they don't know what caused it.

The good news, no homes are affected, they get water from another line.

Crews hope to have everything patched up on Wednesday.
