Bicyclist dies two days after being struck by vehicle in Niles
NILES, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A Northwest Side man died Friday, two days after being struck by a vehicle in north suburban Niles.
Jeremy Ghisols, 39, was biking on a trail about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 6800 block of West Howard Street in Niles when he veered off the path and into the way of a Mazda Miata, according to Niles Deputy Chief Joseph Penze and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Ghisols, of the 5500 block of North Mulligan Avenue, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was pronounced dead at 12:49 p.m. Friday, the medical examiner’s office said.
An autopsy conducted Sunday ruled Ghisols’ death an accident.
Police were still investigating the accident Monday morning, Penze said.
