Good Samaritan helps gunshot victims

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) - Someone opened fire on four men inside a car on Detroit's west side. Two were hurt but a Good Samaritan came to the rescue.

The shooting happened Monday afternoon along Grand River Avenue. One victim was struck in the chest and the other was struck in the eye.

Desperate for help and driving on a flat tire, they stopped here outside Doll's Go Karts on Oakman near Grand River. When an employee there couldn't help, two women from the Department of Human Services next door came to the rescue.

They shuttled two men to the hospital. One of them was badly hurt.

Police say the victims are at Henry Ford Hospital in critical condition.

The other men continued driving on the flat tire and ended up in a parking lot behind a pharmacy. Police are now investigating who shot at them and why.

The men who weren't hurt told police they were leaving the Lawton Parole Office on Grand River and Warren Monday afternoon when someone in a newer model white Sebring started shooting at them.
