Florida Keys, Fla.-A turtle webcam captured the hatchings of hundreds of tiny loggerhead sea turtles on Friday.
The webcam mounted on a beach in the Florida Keys caught the baby turtles, only about three inches long, leaving their nest and heading for the Atlantic Ocean.
The special video is part of the keys effort to raise awareness for the need to protect sea turtles.
"It’s so important; especially here in the Keys to protect these nests and these turtles, they've been around millions of year,” said Save-A-Turtle President Harry Appel.
The Florida Keys is the habitat of several sea turtle species, and the loggerhead sea turtles are among those considered threatened and endangered.
