ATLANTA -  Several students were taken to the hospital after school on Wednesday due to pepper spray being used to break up a fight on a bus.

A spokesperson with Atlanta Public Schools states that a fight broke out around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday on a bus that was set to transport students home from Maynard Jackson High School. An assistant principal attempted to break up the fight, but the bus driver ended up using pepper spray.

School officials say that 10 students and the assistant principal were transported to the hospital by bus to be treated for exposure to the pepper spray. There were no reports of any other serious injuries.

School administrators and APS Human Resources are investigating the incident.
