Arizona's Citizens Clean Elections Commission has decided that an election law complaint against Attorney General Tom Horne merits a full investigation.

PHOENIX (AP) - Lawyers for Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne will try to convince a judge Monday to block an investigation by the Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Commission into his re-election campaign.

Horne filed suit last month seeking to stop the commission's investigation into an election law complaint filed by a former staffer. The investigation authorized by the commission is ongoing.

The investigation was launched on June 19 after the commission decided there was reasonable cause to dig deeper into the allegations.

Former Horne staffer Sarah Beattie alleges that Horne was using his executive staff to run his re-election campaign on state time. Horne denies wrongdoing.

A separate investigation into Beattie's complaint requested by the Arizona Secretary of State's Office has been assigned to a retired judge and Gilbert's town attorney.
