Battle Balls: Laughter Is Required

Posted: Updated:

Randy Carlson was here today, he's the founder of Battle Balls.

Battle Balls are large plastic balls worn over the upper body and face, leaving your legs free to run around the field, with a donut shaped hole to allow for easy breathing. They're typically use in pairs or more, and allow the wearer to “bump, check, or steam roll” their opponent(s) out of the way as they go for the goal. Laughter is required.

Battle Balls fans include: executives, athletes and corporations (team building), college kids, weekend warriors and active professionals (competitions and rec leagues), non profit organizations (fundraising initiatives), couples counselors (Battle Balls can help bring levity to relationship issues), and the entertainment industry (sports oriented challenges and competitions). Battle Balls are also a winner at big birthday parties (30, 40, 50…), bachelor parties, reunions and company picnics.

You can rent or buy Battle Balls at www.battle-balls.com.

More about Battle Balls: There's lots of talk on how you find things when you least expect it – that's exactly what happened with Battle Balls. "Bubble Soccer” (as its known around the globe) found Chief Battle Baller (and founder) Randy Carlson. On leave from his corporate job in healthcare technology to take care of his dad in Arizona, Randy had planned a trip to Haiti with his 16 year old daughter Giovanna. Killing time in the airport waiting for their flights, he stumbled upon a video of some guys in Algund, Italy playing bubble football (aka bubble soccer). With tears of laughter streaming down his face watching a bunch of grown men bump, check and steam roll each other on a soccer field encased in huge, round plastic balls, his curiosity was piqued (both as an athlete and an entrepreneur. He flagged the video (and filed the ‘aha' moment) for the duration of their trip, but upon his return to Chicago, it was game on. Randy began researching the program and looking for ways to bring it to the US. Lots of man hours and r&d later, Battle Balls launched in April of 2014 in Chicago and the company is in the process of rolling out nationwide. Because why shouldn't team sports be served with a side of belly laughs?
