Inkster man hospitalized after witnessing deadly crime

Posted: Updated:
INKSTER, Mich. (WJBK) - Fifty-one-year-old Andy Anderson, the fun-loving dancing grandfather from Inkster, is now fighting for his life after being found in the street not far from his home last Thursday night.

"When I got down there he was on life support. He has no brain activity. All his facial bones are broke in his face. His spine is broke towards the top of his neck and his shoulder is fractured really bad," says daughter Kimberly Anderson.

The initial call came into 911 that a man in the street at Pine and Middlebelt had possibly been hit by a motorcycle - but Kimberly doesn't buy that.

"From what the doctors say, there's no possible way that he was hit by a motorcycle. From the injuries that he have, it's only from his neck up," she explains. "Doctors said it looked like he was hit with an object."

Kimberly thinks her father may have been beaten in a robbery attempt or, even worse, targeted because of something he witnessed.

One month ago he witnessed the murder of 2-year-old Kamiya French, the child killed in cold blood to retaliate against her father for another incident. Andy was to testify at trial coming up in October.

"We're investigating right now as a traffic crash based on witness testimony that we received at the scene. We had some information come to us on Friday that [it] may not have been a traffic course, and we are going back and we re-interviewed our witnesses," says Inkster Police Chief Vicki Yost. She says it's still not clear yet what really happened.

If you know anything you're asked to contact Inkster Police or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
