CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A message that former American Idol contestant Josh Gracin posted on Facebook Thursday afternoon sent his family, friends and fans into a panic, according to a report.

Taste of Country reports that Gracin issued an apology after leaving what appeared to be a suicide note on the social media website.

"To all of you...I apologize dearly for what I have put you through today...I am ok and I am getting help. I am so sorry to all of you," Gracin wrote on his personal Facebook page.

Gracin alluded to some problems with his marriage in a message he left only five hours earlier.

"Please remember me as someone who gave his all in his music...Pray for my family as they carry on in this world without me. Goodbye," he wrote.

Police found Gracin and escorted him to a hospital where he is being evaluated. TMZ reports the singer is on psychiatric hold.

A message left on Gracin's Facebook page Thursday evening by his manager said the singer was safe and had been reunited with his family.

Gracin, who lives outside Nashville, Tenn. with his wife and four kids, finished fourth on Season 2 of "American Idol."
