Man Accused Of Confronting Neighbor With A Gun Over Social Media Posts

Posted: Updated:

Police say a man confronted his neighbor with a gun over something he found on Facebook.

"I couldn't panic or anything because I might get him excited and he might discharge his firearm,” said the victim.

It was a scary and tense moment between Sean, whose identity FOX 29 has concealed, and Lorenzo Arnold, who is now behind bars. Arnold is accused of threatening Sean with a loaded semi-automatic gun over an alleged affair with his girlfriend. Police say it happened Monday after Sean and the girlfriend exchanged Facebook and Instagram posts.

"Whatever he read set him off. His allegation to the victim was you're being with my woman,” said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.

But Sean maintains the social media posts were about cutting the grass. He says he runs a small landscaping business and the couple had hired him to maintain their front lawn on Atlantic Avenue.

"It was just awkward. 12 o'clock at night approaching someone's door sporadically. Yeah, I mean I was like I really don't know what you're here for,” said the victim.

According to the victim, the suspect lives directly behind him and lured him into the alleyway behind the two houses. Moments later, Sean says the talking stopped and Arnold punched him in the face leaving him with a cut lip, as he brandished his gun. Sean says he ran inside and called police.

"It came to me as a shock. We are cordial people. Our children play together so it kind of threw me to left field,” he said.

Arnold now faces serious time behind bars if convicted on the charges.

"Victim's lucky he didn't get shot, if not killed, certainly seriously injured. This guy had 10 rounds in his gun. He could of done significant damage,” said Chitwood.

Arnold faces charges, including firearms not to be carried without a license, terroristic threats, endangering the welfare of children, assault, harassment and reckless endangerment. The suspect is due back in court next week.
