(WJBK) - Police have identified a man's body with a gunshot wound to the chest found under an overpass at 9 Mile and Southfield Tuesday afternoon.

At about the time Michael Young, 56, was found, Detroit Police were called to his home - on Westmoreland for a welfare check.

"The Woman had not been seen since Saturday," said Detroit Police Officer Adam Madera. "We received a 911 call for the well being check and Southfield Police Department showed up all at the same time."

Inside police  found the body of 56-year-old LaDonna Wicks, Young's longtime girlfriend and the owner of a salon.

Her family had become concerned when she missed church on Sunday and they were unable to reach her.
"We forced entry into the home, we did discover her in the basement of the location," Madera said. "She suffered from multiple gunshot wounds."

Now police are investigating what appears to be a murder suicide.

Both Wicks and Young have grown children, were well-liked in the neighborhood. His Facebook page ironically boasts a cover photo with the message of "Stop killing each other."
