Butler Survives In 28-27 Win Over Mallard Creek

Posted: Updated:

Butler held on for a 28-27 win against Mallard Creek in a game that came down to the wire. Butler looked to be in control early in the second half as it led by two touchdowns in the third quarter, but Mallard Creek came roaring back.

Trailing by seven points with just under 50 seconds remaining, Mallard Creek answered with an 82 yard touchdown. It only needed to make an extra point to force overtime, but an unsportsmanlike penalty extended the length of the extra point, which failed.

After the game, the Bulldogs and their coach were very pleased.

“To be a champion,” Butler coach Brian Hales said “you've got to play great.”

Other Scores:

Butler 28, Mallard Creek 27
Ardrey Kell 23, Myers Park 17
Mooresville 38, Hough 7
South Iredell 34, Hickory 27
South Lake 12, Victory Christian 8
