PHOENIX - Phoenix police have arrested a 55-year-old man in the shotgun shooting of his former girlfriend in her home.

According to police, Shannon Leshin, 48, on Saturday was found face-down in a pool of blood on the floor of her bedroom by her college-age daughter and another person who lived in the home near 17th Avenue and Thunderbird Road. Leshin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police later arrested 55-year-old Gary Lee Michaels, who made an initial court appearance Sunday. Court records don't list an attorney for him.

A police affidavit said investigators were told Michaels was trying to rekindle his relationship with Leshin but that he had complained that she was seeing somebody else.

Authorities say a witness told police Michaels was last seen at the home Friday afternoon, and that Leshin had recently broken up with Michaels.

Detectives were able to locate Michaels, and arrested him based on evidence that officers gathered during their investigation.
