Portion of comic store roof collapses, damaging thousands in collectibles

FARMINGTON, Mich. (WJBK) -

A portion of a roof collapsed at a comic book and collectible store in Farmington Monday night.

It happened at Collectible Treasures when during the storm part of the roof and ceiling gave way, allowing the rain to soak and destroy numerous comics and trading cards.

The building is located on Grand River in a strip mall and owners had been having trouble with the roof.

It is estimated that the store lost stock valued between $15,000 to $17,000.

"They heard a loud crash," said Nic Dunsky, one of the owners. "They said it sounded like a, excuse the term, a fat person falling through the ceiling."
