Heating warning remains in effect for Phoenix area until Thursday
PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix and Yuma remain under an excessive heating warning set to run into Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, Tucson is outside the warning area but also expected to remain hot.
The warning issued by the National Weather Service for metro Phoenix is scheduled to remain in effect until 8 p.m. with afternoon temperatures reaching up to 113 degrees (45 Celsius).Read the full article
Detroit cop part of group charged with leaving $500 bill at Japanese steakhouse
FOX 2 recently showed surveillance video of a $500 dine and dash by a large group at a Macomb County Japanese steakhouse.
That video helped police track down some of the people involved. Two women are facing charges including a Detroit police officer.
The large group sat at the table racking up a bill of more than $500 then casually walked out. They didn't realize a security camera was watching the whole time.Read the full article

AP finds hot records falling twice as often as cold ones
(AP) - Over the past 20 years, Americans have been twice as likely to sweat through record-breaking heat rather than shiver through record-setting cold, a new Associated Press data analysis shows.
The AP looked at 424 weather stations throughout the Lower 48 states that had consistent temperature records since 1920 and counted how many times daily hot temperature records were tied or broken and how many daily cold records were set. In a stable climate, the numbers should be roughly equal.
Since 1999, the ratio has been two warm records set or broken for every cold one. In 16 of the last 20 years, there have been more daily high-temperature records than low.Read the full article
