Glendale family pleads for help in finding suspects who shot and killed 25-year-old outside of home

GLENDALE, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Glendale Police continue to search for suspects in the shooting death of a 25-year-old, and his family is hoping for justice.

Tyler Mead was only 25-years-old. Family members say he didn't have enemies and was working hard to be successful.

"I went into mom mode and held my child and that's all I could do at that time but I knew he was gone," said Jasmine Pettit, victim's mother.

Waking up to gunshots late Wednesday night, Jasmine Pettit rushed outside but didn't expect to find her son, 25-year-old Tyler Mead, bleeding on the ground.

"In that moment I kept thinking this isn't real, this isn't real this isn't real I must really be dreaming I cannot really be experiencing this situation right now," explained Pettit.

Mead was hanging out in front of a neighbor's house near 75th Avenue and Bethany Home Road when police say two suspects came up to him before one of them shot and killed him. The suspects ran off and got in a car waiting at the end of the street.

"He was in such a great position in his life and to have someone just come and take it," said Pettit.

Pettit says she and her son were inseparable, best friends. Mead worked full time at a restaurant hoping one day they could move out of Glendale.

Known as a caring sibling, he helped his big brother through his battle with epilepsy.

"How could anybody do this to my brother like he's always been a nice person he really never had any hatred towards anybody never got in fights with anybody," said Brandon Mead, victim's brother.

With not many leads on the suspects, Mead's family is asking for the public to speak up.

"I need anyone who saw anything, knows anything about this situation to please call the Glendale police," said Pettit.

Glendale police are looking for a white Dodge Journey in connection to Tyler's death.
