Woman rescued from Tempe Town Lake

A woman was rescued from her car after she crashed into Tempe Town Lake.

Firefighters responded to the lake Friday evening and were able to pull her from the water.

Rescuers went over to the car and determined no one else was in the vehicle.

Witnesses say the woman was seen driving on the bike path on the south side of the lake when it veered off into the water.

The woman in her 40's was checked by firefighters. Police say they believe impairment may have played a factor in the crash.

UPDATE: In January 2020, the court system said Sarah Briggs was not charged.
