MCSO looking for man wanted for 2018 murder of ex-wife in Goodyear
PHOENIX (FOX 10) -- Officials with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office are asking for the public's help as they search for a man who is wanted for a homicide out in Goodyear.
According to a statement released Friday evening, Melkyseddek Munoz-Garcia abducted his ex-wife, Laura Hernandez at her workplace in the Deer Valley area at around 8:00 p.m. on June 8, 2018. Munoz-Garcia then drove Hernandez from the worksite in her car. Just before 9:00 p.m., Hernandez attempted to escape from Munoz-Garcia at the intersection of MC 85 and Estrella Parkway in Goodyear. Munoz-Garcia then chased Hernandez down the roadway, and executed her with a firearm.
Munoz-Garcia, according to officials, fled the scene in Hernandez's vehicle. That vehicle was recovered by investigators, and detectives discovered evidence directly linking Munoz-Garcia to Hernandez's murder. Officials say Munoz-Garcia has an extensive domestic violence history, including reported and non-reported incidents. He was also convicted of aggravated assault stemming from a November 2012 incident where his ex-wife was the victim.
MCSO officials say Munoz-Garcia has used aliases, including Melky, Octavio Olivas, Octavio Olivas Martinez, and Oscar Munoz. He is last believed to be driving a 2001 white Ford Ranger extended cab truck with Arizona license plate BTV5380, which was registered to Hernandez. Munoz-Garcia is originally from Chihuahua City in Mexico's Chihuahua state, and still has family residing in the Chihuahua area. He may be working in construction, and/or as an auto/motorcycle mechanic. He also frequents Latino themed bars and clubs, and is known to pass himself off as an auto broker.
