PD: Suspect in fatal South Phoenix shooting in custody

PHOENIX (FOX 10) - At least one suspect tied to a fatal shooting in South Phoenix is in custody, but the alleged shooter in the case appears to still be on the loose.

Officers say 21-year-old Johnny Martinez was an accomplice to the shooting. An investigation found that the gunfire was a result of a drug deal gone bad.

This past Monday, police found a 21-year-old woman at a Circle K near Central and Dobbins with a gunshot wound on her back. She was later pronounced dead.

Martinez told officers that the other man demanded the woman's belongings at gunpoint and later shot her. Martinez was booked on charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping, and armed robbery.
