Three passengers were inside the bus at the time of the crash. One person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The other two passengers refused hospital transport.

A man named Dwayne Mims says he was first on the scene trying to help. He was working at an apartment complex nearby when the crash happened.

He ran to the driver of the car.

"Tried to help the lady out, checked the pulse, and she was gone," he said.

The wreckage was clear to see even from the road blocks in place. The sound was easy to hear for residents.

"I heard a big crash, like ‘errrrr.' Like that," said Katherine Moore.

Dwayne said he knew he had to rush in to help.

"That’s what you’re supposed to do, help people out if you can. And I thought I could help her if there was any help to be rendered," Mims said. "It's heartbreaking."
