Suspect charged in deadly stabbing of man on Christmas Day
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A man has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing another man on Christmas in a valley neighborhood.
Phoenix police say 26-year-old Alexander James Chavez was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed 41-year-old Isaac Rivera to death inside the victim's home near the area of 7900 W. Catalina Dr., on Christmas Day.
During their investigation, police learned that Rivera became involved in an altercation with Chavez after returning to his home from a nearby Circle K convenience store. Police learned where Chavez was staying and he was taken into custody at about 9 p.m., on Wednesday night.
When officers initially arrived to Rivera's home, they found him suffering from injuries and he was transported to a hospital where he later died.
