Antwaun Ware: Man who murdered ex-girlfriend to spend the rest of his life in prison

A judge in Maricopa County has sentenced a man who was convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend.

The crime happened in 2018, and according to police, the victim had been set on fire.

What we know:

Per a statement released by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, 27-year-old Antwaun Ware was sentenced to natural life in prison, after he pleaded guilty to first degree murder and endangerment.

According to our initial report, the remains of 21-year-old Jasmine Rain Dunbar were found near 107th Avenue and Camelback Road. MCAO said Dunbar's body was found after Phoenix Police detectives retraced Ware's steps, and discovered he drove to a field in the area.

A seven-month-old baby was found in a car seat on the side of the road near 83rd AVenue and Camelback, according to MCSO, along with Dunbar's ID and several other items.

"This defendant’s callous actions have no place in our community. Thanks to the hard work of my prosecutors, he will live the rest of his life behind bars," said County Attorney Rachel Mitchell, in the statement.
