PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Police are investigating a deadly shooting near a Phoenix motel at I-17 and McDowell. They say the victim was celebrating his birthday when he was killed.
Officers say the victim is a 26-year-old African-American man who was celebrating his birthday with some friends at a nightclub next door to the Knight's Inn. They say for some reason he left the club and shots were soon heard outside.
Police confirm the victim was DeShawn McDonald, also known as rap artist D Mac Deluxx.
Police say the man was found shot to death near some bushes. The victim was reportedly a performer in the local music industry
Police are asking anyone with information about the deadly shooting to come forward with information.
