SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Pinal County Sheriff's Office says 42-year-old Marcigtan Winfrey, Sr. of San Tan Valley has turned himself in to PCSO investigators in connection to the hit and run from Thursday.
He is being booked and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Collision.
Authorities have also identified the woman found dead along a San Tan Valley road on Thusday as 24-year-old, DesRay Lara.
In a statement, PCSO officials said two people called them, after finding a body near the area. One of the callers, according to officials, was an employee with Johnson Utilities.
According to officials, evidence gathered at the scene helped lead deputies to identify the driver involved as a different employee with Johnson Utilities, who was driving his work vehicle at the time. The suspect reportedly texted his supervisor, claiming hit he a barricade and had some damage to the vehicle.
Officials said Johnson Utilities is fully cooperating in the investigation, which is ongoing.
Meanwhile, officials with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office said they need help to identify the victim, who was last seen buying coffee at the Copper Basin Chevron.
A portion of Hunt Highway in San Tan Valley was closed Thursday, due to a fatal hit-and-run incident.
Hunt Highway between Johnson Ranch Boulevard and Thistle Trail was closed on Thursday due to the investigation.
