Ever heard that expression "If you find you've dug yourself into a hole, the first thing to do is… stop digging?"
Apparently Donald Trump hasn't heard that line.
First he dug a big hole when he announced: "When Mexico sends its people they aren't sending their best. They are bringing drugs, they're bringing crime, they are rapists and some are good people but I speak to border guards and they tell us what we're getting."
So what's happened? Macy's dumped him. NBC dumped him. Trump's Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants won't be on NBC and Univision. The pageant hosts quit.
And perhaps worst of all: rapper Flo Rida has pulled himself off the pageant show!
Most politicians, facing such a public relations calamity, would apologize, pretend it didn't happen, wait for the whole mess to blow over, or a combination of the above.
But Trump is doubling down, defending his comments, filing a $500 million lawsuit.
Donald Trump is still digging. We'll see how far it gets him.
