Former AZ lawmaker accused of child sex crimes

A settlement conference is scheduled for Sept. 8 in the case against Otoniel Navarrete, a former state Democratic senator, who was arrested in 2021 on charges of child molestation and sexual conduct with a minor. According to court documents, a boy told police that Navarrete abused him for years. Navarrete served one term in the state House and then in the Senate. He resigned after his arrest.
