Prescott woman gets life for helping lover kill husband

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - A Prescott woman will spend her life in prison for helping her lover kill her husband and then dumping the body at a New Mexico airport.

The Daily Courier in Prescott reports that Laura Stelmasek was sentenced Friday for her role in Craig Stelmasek's death.

Judge Jennifer Campbell also sentenced her to 25 years to life for conspiracy, to be served consecutively.

Prosecutors say she had Marzet Farris III kill Craig Stelmasek at the couple's home in June 2011. They say Farris then left the body in a van at the Albuquerque International Sunport and flew to his Raleigh, North Carolina home.

Stelmasek then joined him there.

A jury convicted Farris in February of first-degree murder and conspiracy. He received the same sentence in April.
