PHOENIX - Phoenix firefighters have rescued two hikers who got stuck on Camelback Mountain's Echo Canyon Trail, a popular hiking and climbing area.
Fire Capt. Jake Van Hook said at some point the hikers got off the main trail and into a position where they feared falling from an elevated position.
A live video feed showed firefighters rappelling down a nearly vertical area of the mountain with the two hikers one by one to rescue crews waiting in a somewhat flatter area.
"They required hi-angle rescue to get them down from the position where they were stuck, however once they were down and back on a trail, they were able to walk to parking lot," said Van Hook.
The hikers and rescue crews were not injured during the incident.
