Maine fire, explosion injures multiple people at lumber mill, officials say

Multiple people have been injured after a fire and explosion broke out at a lumber mill in Maine on Friday.

What we know:

Waldo County officials said at least 11 people were injured, but a full assessment was not complete. 

The fire broke out after an explosion at Robbins Lumber in Searsmont, Maine, a town about 95 miles from Portland, officials said. 

Maine State Police and fire marshals are responding to the fire, state police spokesperson Shannon Moss said.

What we don't know:

The cause of the explosion was not immediately known as of this report. 

Local perspective:

Robbins Lumber's website states that it has been a family-owned firm for five generations and has been in existence since 1881. The website describes the company as a "a high-tech lumber manufacturer."
