Burned body found in Phoenix identified

Phoenix police have identified a man who was killed and set on fire near 9th Avenue and Buchanan back in December.

Police have identified a man who died after he was set on fire near downtown Phoenix back in December.

Phoenix Police say officers on Dec. 1 saw what appeared to be smoke from a fire near Ninth Avenue and Buchanan Street.

Officers found the fire and after putting it out, they saw what appeared to be a man's body severely burned.

Firefighters responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead.

The man's death was ruled a murder and on Jan. 11, police released a composite sketch of the victim in hopes that the public could help identify him.

On Aug. 10, police announced that the victim was identified as 45-year-old Obee Ryan.

Phoenix Police release sketch of man who died after being set on fire

He was described as a black man between 20 and 60 years old, who is 5'8" and 130 pounds. He was wearing a possible dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, unknown pants or shorts, and tennis shoes.'

The case is being investigated as a murder, but no arrests have been made in the case.
