(Earlier Story) Domestic violence suspect shot by detectives in Phoenix
A man wanted in connection with an aggravated assault case in Glendale was shot by detectives on Jan. 6 near 29th Avenue and McDowell Road. Police say the suspect pointed a gun at officers, prompting the shooting.
PHOENIX - Phoenix Police have identified the suspect who died following a shooting that involved Glendale police officers.
What we know:
Per a statement by the Phoenix Police department of Jan. 7, their officers responded to the area of 29th Avenue and McDowell Road at around 9:58 a.m. on Jan. 6 to investigate the shooting.
"Once on scene, they located an adult man later identified as 40-year-old Vincent Cerda Jr., with serious injuries," Phoenix Police wrote. "Vincent was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries, where he later died."
McDowell Road was shut down from 28th to 31st Avenues for some time as a result of the investigation.
