PHOENIX (FOX 10) - A community is mourning the loss of a 13-year-old boy who was killed in a crash on the Loop 101. He was a hockey player and his coach is speaking out.

Ryley McNichol's coach says this loss is being felt from everyone in the ice hockey community.

The 13-year-old boy died in a rollover crash on the Loop 101 after a car drifted into the right shoulder and hit a message board.

Fox 10 learned that Ryley played ice hockey for the past couple of years. The ice hockey community getting together to raise money for the family was a no-brainer.

Ryley played hockey in Scottsdale. Brad Wiseman is his assistant coach who spent a lot of time with him.

"My strongest memories of Ryley were ice tied skates about everyday, so I had a lot of conversations with him, spent a lot of time with him, and learned what a wonderful young man he is," said Brad Wiseman.

"He was just a really good teammate and a good friend," said a fellow hockey player.

Two GoFundMe accounts have been set up to help the family.
