Major pharmacies to ensure reproductive drug access
Officials with 2 major drug store chains say their companies will now make sure women have access to reproductive health medications. Walgreens and CVS were under investigation by the Department of Health and Human Services after several complaints, as women across the country reported being denied prescriptions for drugs like methotrexate. While Methotrexate can be used to induce abortions, it is also used to treat other conditions like lupus, arthritis, and cancer. Health officials say pharmacies have a Federal obligation to fill prescriptions.
