PHOENIX - A driver has been accused of manslaughter after a deadly crash that left a man dead and a woman critically injured in west Phoenix on Sunday.
The two-car collision happened just before 2 a.m. near 43rd Avenue and McLellan Boulevard.
Police say David Leeshawn Johnson, 30, was driving south down 43rd Avenue with a female passenger when he suddenly crossed over into the northbound lanes, colliding head-on with another car going the opposite direction.
The man driving the northbound car died from his injuries in the hospital.
Johnson and the female passenger were both hospitalized, but the 30-year-old was eventually released. The woman is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Johnson was booked into jail on multiple charges including manslaughter, police said.
Impairment is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
