Ariz. man charged with assaulting 2 flight attendants in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - An Arizona man has been charged with assaulting two flight attendants at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport last week.

The Charlotte Observer reported that 41-year-old Jonathan Marois of Phoenix has been charged with simple assault and assault inflicting serious injury.

Police say the attack occurred shortly Jan. 27 while an American Airlines flight was on the ground.

Authorities said Marois was "irate" when he attacked the two male flight attendants as the plane pushed away from the gate for a flight to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Police have not said what prompted the attack. It was not clear if Marois has a lawyer.

One flight attendant was taken to a hospital. The other suffered only minor injuries.

The plane took off after other attendants were brought on board.
