Two-year fugitive found hiding in air vent, taken into custody

After nearly two years on the run, a wanted fugitive was arrested Monday in Georgia after investigators discovered her hiding inside a floor air vent at a residence.

The Grady County Sheriff’s Office said investigators received a tip that Kayla McKenzie, who had an outstanding felony bench warrant, was at a residence in Moultrie.

Investigators coordinated with deputies from the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office and responded to the location. Upon arrival, authorities secured the residence and obtained a search warrant.

During the search, McKenzie was found hiding inside a floor air-conditioning return vent.

What's next:

She was taken into custody without incident and transported to a detention facility. She now faces charges related to the outstanding felony bench warrant.
