President Donald Trump confirmed Saturday that he received a new proposal from Iranian leadership to end the conflict and is currently reviewing it.

Trump did not disclose any details about the offer, telling reporters while preparing to board Air Force One that, "they’re going to give me the exact wording now."

Trump’s confirmation comes after two semiofficial Iranian media outlets, Tasnim and Fars, reported the country’s leadership had sent a 14-point plan through intermediaries in Pakistan in response to a nine-point plan outlined by the United States.

A new warning from the United States threatens any company that pays for passage through the Strait of Hormuz that it may be sanctioned for doing so. In a statement Friday, the U.S. explained that not only are cash transfers prohibited, but so are payments in "digital assets, offsets, informal swaps, or other in-kind payments," including charitable donations and payments at Iranian embassies.

Trump says US will significantly reduce troops in Germany

Trump said Saturday that the U.S. will significantly reduce its troop presence in Germany, escalating a dispute with Chancellor Friedrich Merz as he seeks to scale back America’s commitment to European security.

The Pentagon on Friday had initially announced it would pull some 5,000 troops out of Germany, but when asked Saturday about the reason for the move, Trump didn’t offer an explanation and said an even bigger reduction was coming.

Pentagon withdrawing 5,000 U.S. troops from Germany

The United States will withdraw about 5,000 troops from Germany in the next 6–12 months, the Pentagon confirmed on Friday. National security analyst Hal Kempfer joins LiveNOW to react.

"We’re going to cut way down. And we’re cutting a lot further than 5,000," Trump told reporters in Florida.

The planned withdrawal faced bipartisan resistance in Washington, with swift criticism from Democrats and concern from Republicans that it would send the "wrong signal" to Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose full-scale invasion of Ukraine recently entered its fifth year.
